Every organization is cutting costs, looking for ways to save money - 'doing more with less' CIOs  are making it clear to their IT organization - find cost savings, in one meeting the CIO said we need to find projects that will save us $2M+ and we need a few of these now!

In all the meetings I have had, Citrix has been at the top end of possible projects that can really save money now! Citrix champions within the IT organization are being called on to expand and accelerate their projects. For a long time these Citrix champions were seen as a niche group within IT, now they are being called upon to lead larger projects as their work has been at the core of saving organizations real dollars as they centralize and virtualize their application environments.

Often,  projects around Citrix technology have not been specifically about cost savings, it's usually solving other problems, such as application delivery for challenging apps, providing remote and secure access to applications or giving access to new locations/branches or home users. All these scenarios also include an element of cost saving, using Citrix was always the lowest cost option.

What is not so obvious is that these Citrix projects where not just the best/lowest cost option but also they provided real cost savings to the organization, reducing the TCO for the IT team, and providing best in class ROI. Gartner did some studies that showed Citrix XenApp ROI was less than 9 months. (To get a TCO and ROI calculator done for your organization ask your Citrix partner contact to build one for you.)

Delivering all your Windows apps with Citrix XenApp is at the heart of the real cost savings, Check out the compatibility tool,  http://community.citrix.com/citrixready if your app is not listed it you can add it. Saving of over 40% on your desktop management costs can be realized by running all your apps via XenApp.

Whether it's about TCO or ROI, Citrix have always shown excellent results and now that cost savings are the priority, Citrix champions are shinning a cost savings light on their organizations. To find out more about saving real money for your organization and meet some of the real Citrix champions working at our customer sites come to Citrix Synergy in May 2009 http://www.citrixsynergy.com.
Citrix champions speak out! Are you seeing your projects increase in these financially challenging times? Are you shining a cost saving light for your organization?

    Hello Nabeel,

I am wondering, the Citrix Champions you were referring to, is end customers or your PS or technology team? I've worked with many services partners in APAC. not many of them actually push Citrix as the primary Virtualization technology. Some where i am sure Citrix can further expand your market. Questions to be adressed could be the following:

    1. Did you enable your partners effectively?

    2. What kind of partners your channel or partner team engaged?

    3. How effective is your channel enablement programs?

    4. How close you work with other technology partners like most storage vendors, data center providers, application providers etc. The last big news i heard of was with SAP. Great initiatives but what about Cisco? Because they own 11% or VMware shares and Citrix think they will favor VMware? Even your Citrix Xen has built in NetApp storage API, NetApp's primary push is still VMware. Why?

    5. Many bankers or enterprise companies will be going through infrastructure optimization, data center consolidations exercise to densify their existing facilities to ease management and further cut IT cost. This will be the trend for the next 1-3 years. Hardware vendor will not benefit much but software or services provider whom can help them in this process will surely gain more business. The question is, how ready is Cirix to the vast demands of the market in the next few months, and how quickly Citrix is able to respond to the needs? Is Citrix going to rapidly expand your direct sales or PS team or leverage channel network?

     6. A lot of customers will be expecting software provider like Citrix's help to assess their current infrastructure and propose effective measurements to reduce their TCO. This is key to success exercise to open doors for more Biz opportunities. How much has Citrix achieved in this space?

I am open to further discuss with you on this topic, not so much on the Citrix Champions, but how Citrix can be more successful leveraging the current economy as the stepping stones to leap forward, faster and further than Vmware. Feel free to email me @ ooi__ghyuan@hotmail.com.

Thanks for the feedback. some comments/answers.

I am specifically talking about Customer champions. Those that have been deploying Citrix Solutions, specifically arround App delivery and vertualization with XenApp.

We have a number of programs for our CSA and Alliance partners to help them develop thier skills and help customer champions, also we have Citrix consulting assisting our customers with these deployments.

I would be happy to discuss this more with you via email, I will reach out to you.

      Thanks,

      Nabeel
