I've used the spare time between two projects to create version 2.0 of the XenDesktop VDA Configurator.
This version has a better Active Directory browsing mechanism (faster & more reliable), checks for GPO configurations of the Virtual Desktop Agent (VDA) and shows you all XenDesktop Farms (Name, GUID, AD location) which can be discovered.
The tool itself:

I hope you find it as helpful as I do...

PS: If you feel the need for any other tool related to XenDesktop, just drop a comment here and I'll see what I can do for you.

Hi Robert, as stated in my previous Blog (http://community.citrix.com/x/tIXeAQ)...Hi Robert,
as stated in my previous Blog (http://community.citrix.com/x/tIXeAQ) this tool is for configuring a Virtual Desktop Agent (VDA / XenDesktop Client component) to connect to a specified XenDesktop farm. By default you can choose the XenDesktop farm during the installation of the VDA or using a policy afterwards, but in case you would like to connect a particular client to a different XD farm after the installation and you can not use policies, you have to do it manually (steps described in blog mentioned above) or you can use my tool (VDA configurator).
The usage is pretty simple:
1. Start the tool on the client you would like to reconfigure
2. Browse for available XenDesktop farms (click the drop-down menu)
3. Select Apply
4. Restart the Citrix Desktop Service on the client
Furthermore you can select Show Farms which shows you all farms which can be discovered within your AD.

Thomas

It would be really useful to have a version of the Xendesktop setup wizard that let you choose if you wanted a seperator between the base workstation name and the incremental number. The majority of organisations dont use an underscore in their PC naming convention [waits to get flamed :*) ]
An example would be the ability to provision desktops named Workstation001, Workstation002 etc rather than Workstation_001.
Many thanks!

Our DHCP policy will not give an IP address to any hostname with an underscore in it due to some apps that do not work with workstations with underscores in it.. Any chance of the XenDesktop Setup Wizard to allow you to choose the seperator?
Thanks,

if you are willing to change anything according to the clientnames in the XenDesktop Setup Wizard, i'd really love to see a version which allows to use an individually generated input file for the client names. Many companies have strikt naming conventions for the computer names and this feature would also address the above mentioned problems with the underscore...
best regards,
Chrissan
