Description

Save printer settings into a .dat file to be restored each time the printer is connected through a script.

Script Version

1.0

How to Use

This script requires that prnadmin.dll, from the Windows 2003 Resource kit, be registered on the machine you run the script on. For more examples and further explanation, refer to the prnadmin.doc file which is included with the Windows 2003 Resource kit.

Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools

The code example saves the devmode settings per the flag specified and described on page 12 in the Prnadmin.pdf. The .dat file created can then be used to restore the settings in a script allowing for the exact printer settings to be restored.

Paste into Notepad and save as fileName .vbs. Double-click the file. You can also run the file from the command prompt with the following command:
Cscript filename .vbs
