Web Interface for MetaFrame XP Pagelet
Web interface for MetaFrame XP Presentation Server software instantly Web-enables existing client/server and other legacy applications without recoding, allowing end users to access them conveniently from any Web browser. Web interface is a feature of Citrix MetaFrame XP Presentation Server software, which centralizes the execution, management and deployment of applications on a server and enables users to access them on any device, over any connection Users view and work with the application as if it were running locally, sending keystrokes and mouse clicks to the server and receiving screen updates. Applications that previously were available only on high-end desktop platforms are now accessible on any client platform.
Web interface for MetaFrame XP Presentation Server integrates with PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal using a custom pagelet. A pagelet is a standardized, reusable information component that defines the static and dynamic content for a specific content subject (e.g. stock feeds, applications) in a portal page. Citrix developed this custom pagelet to allow web interface functionality to be incorporated into PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal. The following capabilities are provided by the base pagelet:
- Access to MetaFrame XP Presentation server applications from PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal.
- Filtering of MetaFrame XP Presentation Server applications based on user credentials - users get a private set of applications that may be different for each individual or group.
- Seamless access to applications with the performance and reliability inherent in Citrix MetaFrame XP Presentation Server - any time, any place, any device.
- Multiple authentication methods to help meet the needs of diverse user communities.
- Customizable control over how applications are displayed.
- Centralized, GUI-based administration of the pagelet from within the PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal. The web interface pagelet code is a starting point for customization of individual portal environments, based on organizational requirements. Citrix Consulting has provided the source code and documentation to help install and administer the pagelet. PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal developers can modify the web interface pagelet to provide specific functions or features, or Citrix Consulting and partners can help design a custom solution.
