Citrix Systems Inc. presented its new NetScaler MPX line of web application delivery systems at the Interop Las Vegas 2008. The new NetScaler solutions feature a multi-core system architecture that increases datacenter capacity and delivers 2.5 times more web applications with the same infrastructure footprint. It provides sophisticated workflow virtualization that senses changes in application demand and automatically invokes the necessary application and server resources to meet workloads. Citrix NetScaler MPX 15000 and MPX 17000 are available this month and suggested retail pricing begins at US$180,000 per pair.

Test of Domino Web Access over simulated T1 link to with Citrix NetScaler to provide caching, compression, and acceleration. It took about 13 seconds to download and open a 7 mb attachment (compared to 75 seconds with without the NetScaler and compression disabled, and 22 seconds with Domino Compression and no NetScaler). The Citrix NetScaler Application Delivery Controller can not only slash end user response times for DWA, the NetScaler can also reduce CPU utilization on DWA with TCP and SSL offloading. Edgesight for NetScaler gives greater visibility to response time and App Firewall provides security and protection against application level attacks.
