My previous posts about PubForum were focused on Geek Speak and on PubForum, this time I'd like to introduce you to one of the many people that attended this year's PuBForum 2009 Dublin conference, he's a first time attendee who also gave a presentation at the conference.

I'd like to introduce you to Frane Borozan, who is an active community member for Microsoft Terminal Services and Citrix Application Delivery and Virtualization. He is also founder of Terminal Services Log (TSL) which was founded in 2008. TSL Inc. is a software development company based in Europe, and they specialize in developing high-quality enterprise applications and providing consulting for Microsoft Terminal Services and Citrix Technologies
Frane gave a great presentation on one of the products his company created to help solve real world problems with monitoring, alerting, and reporting on Microsoft and Citrix servers. The name of the product is also the name of the company, Terminal Services Log. He did a great job of giving a technical presentation on a product without making it a sales or marketing pitch, which is what we want right! I look forward to seeing what Frane will be presenting on in the future.
You can learn more about Frane Borozan and Terminal Services Log from the below link:

I have posted a bunch of pictures into a photo album from this years PubForum 2009 in Dublin, Ireland.
My two previous posts about the event were on my thoughts about PubForum and Geek Speak
This time I will let the pictures do the talking =)

This year's first bi-annual PubForum 2009 event in Dublin, Ireland was yet another sold out event, which is a testament to the ever growing popularity of its return attendees and this year's first time attendees. This is a truly international event in which people from many different countries come to take part in Europe's finest premier and truly independent community focused event and industry conference.

Attendees from the following countries traveled to Dublin, Ireland to attend PubForum:
- Belgium
- Croatia
- Denmark
- France
- Germany
- Ireland
- Netherlands
- Norway
- Scotland
- Sweden
- Switzerland
- United Kingdom
- United States of America
In a previous post about the event I mostly focused on an overview of the Geek Speak part of the event, But this post is meant to be more of an overview about the PubForum conference.
An Overview of Geek Speak at PubForum 2009 Dublin
This was the 12th PubForum since it started back in 2003. The first PubForum was held in Amsterdam and was born from some very ambitious members of user groups and forums who were looking to create a non-commercial event where people from around the world could come and attend a conference that was focused on community, knowledge, professionalism, and expertise in the application delivery and virtualization industry. Most you reading this have been to conferences yourself, and while there is nothing wrong with going to a corporate event, as I think they are very much needed, But I also believe we need the independent conferences also, as they add an element of community or a dynamic of conversation that is just not possible ( with exception of course, wink wink, think Geek Speak ) at many corporate events. With that said, it's kind of an interesting dilemma when one thinks about trying to grow an event but yet keep it personable. I think this why the PubForum event, which could grow by leaps and bounds if it wanted to, keeps the event on a smaller scale, and usually has it twice a year to compensate, with the added benefit of delivering content on topics relevant to current timeframes. Another side benefit of an event like this, is that because it is not as large or as commercial as other events, it is able to keep cost to a minimum, which in today's economic climate is a huge plus. I have a suspicion that there may be another PubForum this year, but it's just a guess/wish, but in any case I hope you can find the time to attend a future PubForum event, as it is one of the highest caliber community events you could attend.

Also, please stay tuned for more, as I still have some pictures and other thoughts about the event to post.
I recently returned from PubForum 09 that ran from June 5-7 in Dublin, Ireland. What an incredible event it turned out to be, further strengthening PubForum's excellent seven-year track record as one of the most well respected IT industry conferences in the world. All seats were filled prior to the event, and the speakers and attendees seemed to enjoy every minute of this content- and discussion-rich conference!
Event Highlights
As I described in a recent blog post, we ran a Geek Speak Live! track at PubForum this year that proved to be a fantastic addition to the event. Some highlights of Geek Speak Live! at PubForum included a Geek Speak room on Saturday, and the following individual sessions:
- Shawn Bass's thought-provoking "XenDesktop 3.0 and Its Impact on the VDI Landscape" session that was a follow-on to his Geek Speak Tonight! session at Synergy in May
- Radoslaw Smigielski's "XenServer Deep Dive" session, the informative opening session in the Geek Speak room on Saturday
- Rene Vester's provocative "Essentials for... Virtualization" session that turned into an active Q&A and sparked several related follow-on discussions
- Rich Crusco's discussion on "What's New in Provisioning Server," a great session that resulted in a very interesting Q&A
- The Geek Speakeasy Discussion Club...two hours of ongoing discussions covering a variety of technical topics from the Value of Today's Hottest Technologies to What Does Citrix Need to Do to Stay in Business?
Event Photos
I've posted a collection of photographs "hot off the presses" of the speakers and attendees at the PubForum keynote and Geek Speak Live! track sessions, as well as some great Dublin scenery that was within walking distance from the conference. If you didn't have the chance to attend PubForum this year, these photographs will give you insight into the good times that were had. ![]()

As I stumbled around the internet, I ran into this post about a new citrix user group in Ireland.
I don't have all the details yet, but will be working on finding out more info and will let you know more as I find out the details.
Introducing RepairCBDChain a Citrix Tool written by Dmitry Vostokov,
a tool that immediately restores clipboard functionality on the client and server.
Have you ever had a problem where the cut and paste clipboard functionality would not work in a ICA session? I know, silly question, of course you have. I would like to introduce you to a tool I use whenever the clipboard functionality stops working. This tool was written by Dmitry Vostokov a Citrix employee in EMEA. I had the pleasure of meeting him while I was over in Dublin, Ireland visiting the Citrix office there. He is an amazing individual with many accomplishments, you should seriously check out his site, Crash Dump Analysis. http://www.dumpanalysis.org/, I'm willing to bet that you will be as awed as I was.

Sadly this year I missed PubForum, Rich however, made it all the way to Dublin and brought us some awesome pictures and videos, you can check them out on his blog.
I stayed in Fort Lauderdale really jealous of Rich.
However the guys (AlexY/AlexD) who organize PubForum were kind enough to think of people like me and all those who didn't make to Dublin, for the BeerForum, ops.... I mean PubForum.
They recently posted all the videos and presentations for PubForum 2008, and you can do exactly what I did, download them all.
One session in particular caught my attention, Simon Frost, a colleague of ours here at Citrix, presented on the topic "AppReceiver", and he did a fantastic job explaining how Citrix will aggregate all its clients into one universal application receiver client.
You can meet all the rock start who put together this awesome user group event, during Citrix Synergy in Huston from May 20th to 23rd.
See you in Huston.
Cheers,

Originally this year there was only going to be one PubForum, PubForum 2008 Dublin. But, the game has changed! PubForum will be hosting another event this year. This time it will be in Nice, France from November 7 through the 9th. If you have never attended a PubForum Event, let me just say this, it is a must attend event! If you are looking for the real deal from an event, this independent conference is the event for you. The biggest catch is that since it is usually a limited attendee event, it's on a first come basis, so don't lose out and stay tuned for registration details as they become available.
