All twenty speaking slots for the first ever Geek Speak BarCamp are filled and the scheduled is locked in tight. (Read background on Geek Speak BarCamp here
, here and here). This event happens on the evening of May 21st at Synergy in Houston (in room 360 right after Geek Speak Live).
I have communicated to all the speakers the schedule, and this is now the final one I will post before Citrix Synergy. We have had a few changes (including one speaker dropping due to another commitment) but we have twenty full sessions.
The line up now includes FOUR Citrix Technology Specialists, four consultants, two Escalation Tech Support Engineers, four Product Managers, a HP Print Driver Developer and a Senior Architect from a large healthcare company.

Yes go ahead record any interesting demos you see at the exhibit hall. We will be having some very interesting demos around XenApp, XenServer, NetScaler in Techlab.
- Can I record sessions at the Geek Speak Bar camp event?
Absolutely, You can interview geeks and record their sessions.
- What color of Flip Video will I win?
You will a white color Flip Video.
- How will I get the Flip Video after my Video wins the contest by having most views on YouTube?
We will contact you via email and then ship the Flip Video to your office address.

Do you want to record some of the fun and interesting things you will see during Citrix Synergy conference and share it with your friends and colleagues? We will be handing out 5 flip cameras every day for 3 days (May 20, 2008 - May 22, 2008) that's 15 first come first serve people. All you have to do is record 1 or more video clips less than 5 min long and give the Flip video back to me. The flip video can record an hour of video. What is a Flip video camera? What series of the Flip Video will be given to winner? How do I sign up for the contest? What is the process for collecting and giving back the Flip video? |

What are the rules for the contest?-
- No video from the keynote.
- No video from any breakout sessions.
- Ask customers/friends/colleagues to withhold their last name and company to protect them from legal liability.
- Do not Interview any Press or Analysts.
- The video clips have to be less than or around 5 minutes.
- Citrix may use these videos for promotion purposes and can decide not post a video if we find the content inappropriate.
Can you give me few examples of video clips to record?
You can record interesting XenApp or XenServer demos or partner product demonstration at the exhibit hall. You can interview your friends, colleagues or vendors and capture their view about the Synergy. Just be innovative and record fun, cool and informative videos. Show us Synergy through your eyes.
How will I recognize you at the registration desk?

How will I win a Flip Video?
I will upload all the videos to YouTube and tag them Citrix_Synergy08_flipcontest. The top 3 most viewed videos on YouTube will win the Flip Video. The contest will end on 6th of June 2008 at 6 PM EST.

The Citrix Innovation Award is for Citrix customers who innovate in utilizing technology to make a significant impact on their business. In my previous post on Geek Speak Bar Camp (May 21st at Citrix Synergy), we had fourteen of the twenty speaking slots filled. As of now, all twenty speaking slots for the first ever Geek Speak BarCamp are filled. (Read background on Geek Speak BarCamp here, here and here).

One of the many great speakers at Geek Speak Live! (see James Rabey's post for the lineup) is Russ Daniels, HP CTO for Cloud Services Strategy. Russ Daniels was previously the CTO for HP Software, before moving into this new role last year.
In 2006, Infoworld named Russ Daniels a part of its Infoworld CTO 25.
"Historically, the enterprise management category was viewed as network and systems monitoring, and not much else," Daniels says. But today, he argues, it should be viewed as a way to manage IT assets and services – and measure their effectiveness in furthering an organization's business goals.
Daniels also co-leads the company's Adaptive Enterprise initiative, which combines virtualization with various datacenter automation technologies to form a malleable foundation for service-oriented IT. The automation efforts are focused, he says, on activities that, when done manually, tend to inject errors into systems. The ultimate objective is for enterprises to spend less on operations and more on innovation.
Although his background is in software development (including work on Web services standards), and he embraces the intricacies of datacenter management, Daniels is keenly aware that technology must always prove its value: "We have to be able to understand the performance of computing systems in business metrics, not IT metrics."
According to his bio, "Daniels speaks widely at conferences and works closely with key HP partners and its largest and most demanding enterprise customers. Daniels has more than 25 years of industry experience specializing in software architecture, enterprise management, and software development methodologies. Prior to joining HP, he spent 15 years at Apple Computer. He has a bachelor's degree from Ohio University."
Daniels is a highly sought after speaker at technology conferences. Russ Daniels participated in a "fireside chat" at Mobile 2.0 in San Francisco last year. You can read the transcript here.
