One of my side projects these past couple of months has been XenAppPrep - a tool that will help you clone XenApp servers. This tool plays a key role in rolling out XenApp via Provisioning Server, XenServer, and other image-based deployment technologies. I've written a blog about this and recommend checking it out if you're interested in cloning XenApp servers. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a comment. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!

Shannon,

Do you know of any known issues with PVS 5.0 and 64-Bit Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, SP2/R2. After an initial build, and XenAppPrep it seems to cause the XenApp 4.5 FP1 install to perform a repair. Any ideas what could be causing this issue? Any help is appreciated. Please let me know if you need more information.

Hi Anthony,

The installer will flag which components were not found and triggered the repair via the Event Log. Can you check the Event Log for any MSI related messages and send them to me?

Thanks!

Shannon

Apparently installing XenApp on a Private Image vDisk which sees the physical C:\ drive as D:\ has some form of negative impact on the MSI installer. If XenAppPrep is run after the "Master Image" is created on a physical drive the issue does not occur. In short it seems to be an order of operation problem.

 Thanks for the quick response!

Anthony
